PROTECTIVE CARE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

We offer highly trained and experienced teams to work with the most complex young people, particularly those who display challenging behaviours. We have never given up on a young person and we excel at finding solutions.

Our way of working

We use the same team of support for the duration of the placement which is vital when working with young people who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect. Consistency, trust and forming a bond is an essential element of the work we do. Our staff are all employed by PCG and we never use agencies.

We ensure every young person in our care has a fulfilled life. Our staff ensure every young person has access to education and activities, they teach life skills and mentor and coach, and the changes speak for themselves. Our success rate for motivating our young people to access education is outstanding.

We work closely with the whole care team, including CAMHS, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Education and the family (where appropriate) to ensure a combined approach is agreed, and followed. Partnership and collaboration are key.

We support young people who:

  • Have had a breakdown in relationships at home or in foster.
  • Are in care and need to prepare for independent living.
  • Are at risk of being placed in a secure setting.
  • Are in crisis and need short term or longer-term support.
  • Need support with emotional or behavioural issues.
  • Are vulnerable or volatile with complex behaviours that can be challenging.

We ensure they have a framework of care and an education plan that keeps them safe, supports their development, skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

We aim to give young people a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where staff are focused on meeting their individual needs.

We strive to promote positive attitudes based on self-respect, respect for others and equality of opportunity while appreciating diversity. We continually review practice to ensure high quality service provision is being provided.

We listen to what young people tell us about the quality of their care and we are constantly evolving and adapting to reflect their views. We work with parents, carers, relatives, and other agencies to meet exacting standards and provide the best care for young people.

We place a strong emphasis on providing fair and reasonable boundaries and expectations, whilst ensuring positive structure and routines that may have previously been missing from young people’s lives.

We make tough decisions not to hire based on 360 degree viewpoints gained from in-depth interviews, assessments days, referencing and DBS details. We focus on so much but at the core are people’s character and conduct, their motivations and attitude.
